COVID Lockdown update November

5 November 2020

We would like to update you following the latest government restrictions and to reassure you that Blue House Vets will stay open to continue to deliver care and treatment, as we have done throughout this crisis, with important safety measures in place. We continue to follow government advice and professional guidance from the RCVS and BVA.

Necessary trips to bring your pet to the vets are permitted, so consultations, vaccination and surgeries are still being performed at the practice. We ask you to call when you arrive to let us know you are here and please stay warm in your car rather than waiting outside in the cold. The vet or nurse will come out to you or may phone you to obtain a history and then collect your pet for examination inside the building. Unfortunately, we cannot allow clients in the building – this helps to keep us all safe. Our only exception is to allow owners to be present at the end of their pet's life.

Our team members are equipped with all necessary PPE equipment (including IIR facemasks and visors), and will continue to follow stringent cleaning, hand washing and social distancing procedures, as we remain committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of all. We are trying to avoid a COVID outbreak within the practice which could mean we would have to close, which is in nobody’s interest.

If you are in isolation please tell us when making an appointment. If you start showing signs of COVID before your appointment, please let us know. We can still offer remote consultations via video link if you are isolating or unable to travel. Non-urgent medications can be posted to you if needed.

If you are coming to collect medications or make a payment please make your way to the window on the left side of the building (with the collection point sign, nearest the fire station). Payments can be made over the phone to avoid having to stand in the cold, and please try to avoid cash if possible.

If you can email medication requests (happypets@bluehousevets.com) this will ease the pressure on the phones and reception staff so that urgent calls can be answered. Please allow 48-72 hours for us to have your drug order ready where possible, as our working capacity may be reduced and supply deliveries slower. We may ask if you want a 2 or 3 month supply to avoid additional trips before Christmas (for certain medications only).

Thank you for being understanding during our current working alterations and thank you too for taking care in our car park as the evenings draw in.
