german shepherd has promblem back leg

dog went out this morning for daily business lifted leg and let out a yelp now has problem standing up on legs.also not eaten.not happy dog

I'm always reluctant to say "take him to a vet" because it always seems like we are trying to generate paid work, BUT
it really is impossible to advise much about your doggie without seeing him. He may have hip dysplasia, and dislocated (or partially dislocated) a hip joint, he may have a spinal problem, and he may have damaged his knee (cruciate ligaments are the common site of injury)
so, sorry but professional help is required, sooner rather than later if he is so unhappy
