Price of neuting a kitten?

12.01.2006

I have two 9 month old kittens who haven\'t had their jabs or been done. One of them is weeing all over the house and desperately needs it doing. Will the other start doing it if i just get one done as i\'m living on my own and can\'t afford it all at once?

Hi Nadia

it all depends on whether the cat is widdling or urine marking. I presume they are both boys?
there is a good article on widdling versus spraying on www.fabcats.org
if he is raising his tail and squirting small amounts, usually at vertical objects, this is spraying, and will be helped/stopped by castration
if he is simply widdling around the house, this is loss or lack of house-training, and needs to be addressed differently
if finances are tight, get him castrated anyway before he does start spraying, and then get the other one done when finances permit
vaccination can wait
if you would like to bring them in for a free health check, we can discuss all this, and check them over for you
incidentally, castration costs around £35 , tho we may be able to get help with this if you are on benefits
