whole chicken bone

10wk old Rotveiller swallowed the above ! How long do we have to wait to see if everything is going to be ok ?




Hi Mark

you will usually know pretty soon if anything is wrong.

if the bone is raw, there is unlikely to be any problem

if cooked, it may cause vomiting or loose motions
it is unlikely to do anything nasty to the intestines as it will probably have been crunched en route, and will be pretty much digested.

The thing to watch out for is vomiting, refusing food, being over-quiet and depressed - this would happen within 24 hours, but I would think all will be well
